As part of the greening efforts of the race, we are going to encourage the help of the runners to support the capital campaign to renovate Taras Shevchenko Park, a 2.5-acre neighborhood park located at the starting line of the Blue Cross Broad Street Run.
The Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Department is currently taking orders for personalized bricks to be installed along the Broad Street side of Taras Shevchenko Park as part of an overall concept plan to revitalize the park. This plan was developed in partnership with the local community and the Department's non-profit partner, the PHS Philadelphia Green Program.
The sidewalk on the Broad Street side of the park will be repaved using the bricks and will be designed to highlight the 10 miles of the Broad Street Run course. The first bricks purchased were installed starting at mile one near Somerville Avenue. Brick installation will be ongoing.
- For $50: you can purchase a small brick, 4" x 8", with three lines of text and up to 20 characters per line.
- For $100, you can purchase a larger brick, 8" x 8", with six lines of text and up to 20 characters per line.
All proceeds will be used to help fund park improvements through the Parks Revitalization Project.
