THE DEADLINE FOR ORDERING BRICKS FOR THE FIRST INSTALLATION FOR THIS YEAR'S RACE IS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2010
Buy a Brick and Help Taras Shevchenko Park
As part of the greening efforts of the race, we are going to encourage the help of the runners to support the capital campaign to renovate Taras Shevchenko Park, a 2.5-acre neighborhood park located at the starting line of the Blue Cross Broad St. Run.
The Philadelphia Department of Recreation is currently taking orders for personalized bricks to be installed along the Broad St. side of Taras Shevchenko Park as part of an overall concept plan to revitalize the park. This plan was developed in partnership with the local community and the Department’s non-profit partner, the PHS Philadelphia Green Program. The sidewalk on the Broad St. Run side of the park will be repaved using the bricks and will be designed to highlight the “ten miles” of the Broad St. Run course. The first bricks purchased will be installed starting at “mile one” near Somerville Ave.
Bricks should be installed before race day next year (May 2010)
For just $50, you can purchase a small brick, 4” x 8”, with three lines of text and up to 20 characters per line.
For $100, you can purchase a larger brick, 8” x 8”, with six lines of text and up to 20 characters per line.
All proceeds will be used to help fund park improvements through the Parks Revitalization Project.
